or — links between files then work tooHow it works
Drop a Markdown file or a whole folder on the page, choose one, or paste Markdown text. It opens formatted for reading, with its contents beside the text when it has several headings. With a folder, the links between files work, including Obsidian-style [[wikilinks]], and its images are shown; the selector at the top switches file. Ctrl+K searches every open file, the Aa button sets the text size, width, font and theme, and the document can be saved as Word or printed as PDF. The Edit button lets you change the text right on the formatted page, with only what Markdown can write (headings, bold, lists, links, tables…), and Save (Ctrl+S) writes the .md file. Everything happens in your browser: nothing is uploaded.
Questions
Are my files sent to a server?
No. Your browser reads and displays them; the page is not allowed to contact any other site, so even images hosted on the internet are not loaded. Nothing is kept once the page is closed, except your reading settings.
How do I follow the links between my files?
Open the whole folder (drop it, or use “open a whole folder”): relative links, links to a heading and [[wikilinks]] then open the right file, and Back returns to the previous one. With a single file, a link to another file tells you to drop the folder. Folders such as .git, .obsidian or node_modules are skipped.
How do I search in my documents?
Press Ctrl+K (or /) to search every open file, or only the current one. Case and accents are ignored: ete finds Été. Open a result and every match is highlighted on the page; F3 and Shift+F3 move from one to the next, Escape clears them.
Can I make the text bigger or read in dark mode?
Yes. The Aa button sets the text size (85 % to 150 %), the width of the column, a sans or serif font and the theme: automatic (like your system), light or dark. Your choices are remembered on this device.
How do I convert Markdown to Word or PDF?
Open the file, then click Word to download a .docx with its headings, lists, tables and images. For a PDF, use the print button and choose “Save as PDF”: the page prints without the interface.
Why doesn't an image appear?
Images stored next to the file appear when you open the whole folder. Images hosted on the internet are never loaded, so that the page contacts no other site; the rest of the document is shown normally.
Can I edit a Markdown file here?
Yes. Open the file and click Edit: you change the text right on the formatted page. The toolbar offers only what Markdown can write: headings, bold, italic, strikethrough, code, links, bulleted, numbered and task lists, quotes, code blocks, lines and tables. Typing # , - , 1. , > or [ ] at the start of a line works too. Done returns to reading with your changes; Save (Ctrl+S) writes the .md file on your computer. Nothing is uploaded.
Will editing change the rest of my file?
No. What you did not touch is saved exactly as it was, character for character, including the front matter, the HTML and the link definitions. Only the paragraphs, lists or tables you changed are rewritten, in standard Markdown that GitHub, Obsidian and other apps read. Parts written in HTML are shown in a dashed frame and are not edited.
