Drop an EPUB book
It opens here, chapter by chapter: contents, search, bookmarks and highlights — and it stays in your library.
Your library
How it works
Drop an EPUB book on the page or choose one. It opens on its cover and contents; then read it chapter by chapter with the chapter menu at the top, the links at the bottom of each chapter, the ← → keys, or a swipe on a phone. The book is kept in your library on this page, and it reopens where you stopped. Mark a place with the bookmark button, select a passage to highlight it, search the book with Ctrl+K, and use the Aa button to set the text size, width, font and theme. A chapter or the whole book can be saved as Word or printed as PDF. Everything happens in your browser: nothing is uploaded.
Questions
Are my books sent to a server?
No. Your browser opens and displays them; the page is not allowed to contact any other site. The copy kept for your library, your reading positions, bookmarks and highlights stay in this browser, on this device only.
Where is my library, and how do I remove a book?
Every book you open appears on this page under “Your library”, with its cover and how far you have read; click it to reopen it. The ✕ on a book removes it from the library without touching your original file. The library keeps up to 40 books (the ones read least recently go first) and is emptied if you clear this site's data in your browser.
Will I find my place again next time?
Yes. The page remembers the chapter and the spot where you stopped in each book. Reopen the book from your library, or drop the same file again, and it continues there; a short message names the chapter. This works in the same browser on the same device.
How do I add bookmarks and highlights?
In a chapter, the bookmark button at the top marks the place you are reading. To highlight, select a passage with the mouse or your finger, then press “Highlight”; click a highlight to remove it. All of them are listed on the book's “Cover & contents” page, in reading order: click one to go there, or ✕ to delete it.
How do I search in a book?
Press Ctrl+K (or /) and type at least 2 characters: the whole book is searched, or every book you opened together. Case and accents are ignored: ete finds Été. Open a result and every match is highlighted in the chapter; F3 and Shift+F3 move from one to the next, Escape clears them.
How do I convert an EPUB to Word or PDF?
Open the book, click Word and choose “This chapter” or “Whole book”: a .docx is downloaded with the text, headings, tables and images, and the cover on the first page for the whole book. For a PDF, use the print button and choose “Save as PDF”: the page you are reading prints without the interface.
Why won't my book open?
Most often it is protected by DRM: books bought in some stores can only be read in that store's app. The file may also be damaged or not a real EPUB, or the browser too old (use a recent Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari). A message tells you which case it is.
